Seminar on “TopPlan”
Seminar on “TopPlan” software was held in SESL on March, 23, 2011. “TopPlan” enables to edit maps and objects on it. During the seminar all the basic functions of this program such as editing, adding and deleting objects, creating address lists were represented.

Seminars on Network Analysis in Cooperation with the University of Groningen
SESL has launched an intensive preparatory course on network analysis before the visit of prominent scholars in this field from the University of Groningen. The classes are held every Friday since March, 11 at 15-00.

The Laboratory Has Published a Brochure “Children from Migrant Families at Schools of St. Petersburg”
A new brochure about migrant children in St.Petersburg was published in the Laboratory.
SESL master-class. Graphic Editors Basic User Options.
SESL has launched a series of master-classes for upgrading computer competence. Two of them were carried out on 25 and 28 of March and focused on computer graphics and graphic editors.
The fourth seminar on social stratification
On February, 4 the third seminar was dedicated to Goldthorpe's theory. The participants analysed the texts and critical articles. On February, 18 the fourth seminar was held.

On February, 2 – 4 the conference «Youth (Sub) cultures in Changing Societies» was held in Tallinn, Estonia. It was devoted to research of youth from different points of view. The University of Tallinn organized the conference. The junior researcher of laboratory, Ekaterina Kuldina tells about conference and her report.
Ethnic Сommunities in Social Networks (Collective Student Project)
A unique research project of ethnic groups in social networks has been started several months ago in SESL. This project is of special interest as the research group consists of initiative students from the department of sociology. Moreover, these students are experts in ethnic issues to some extent as they belong to ethnic groups.

On January 28, 2011 Evgeny Kochkin presented his paper at the conference "Global Conclave of Young Scholars of Indian Education". The conference was held in Delhi on January 27-29, 2011.
