We are preparing for our field expedition

Long-awaited meetings were held this week with participants of an expedition organised by the “Sociology of education and science” laboratory in Vyborgsky district of Leningrad Oblast. The expedition was moved from Spring to Autumn, so now we have even more strength and desire to start working on it.

In the field work will be engaged 2nd-4th year bachelor students of "Sociology and Social Informatics" program, as well as researchers of the “СЛОН” laboratory.

Before the trip we met each other face to face and exchanged expectations about the team work. Darya Konstantinovna discussed the plan with us, told us about the goals and objectives of the study. She noted that for a successful expedition it is important to carry out good preparatory work and get acquainted with the place and features of the region. We explored school websites, and read a little bit about the towns and cities we’re going to visit.

Teachers and students are looking forward for our arrival, so it is important to meet the expectations

Vyborgsky district promises to be a pleasant place for field work. The newcomers were pleased that for an interview it is not necessary to dress in a school uniform, and teachers – most likely – will be happy to tell young sociologists about the realities of teaching in schools of Vyborgsky district. Young participants of the expedition care about cooking porridge in the morning, but we are confident in our abilities, we will not stay hungry!

Summing up – the meetings showed the morale of each member of the project group and provided answers to the most intriguing questions of the upcoming trip
